Unique Onion Seed Sowing and Mixing Machine Showcased at DIPEx 25 Exhibition
The DIPEx 25 exhibition features a unique machine developed by students for sowing and mixing onion seeds.

About 324 projects are on display at the DIPEx 25 exhibition, inaugurated by State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil at the College of Engineering Pune Technology University grounds. The event, organized by ABVP along with the Department of Innovation, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation of the Government of Maharashtra, showcases projects related to agriculture, solar power, health, defense, among others. Students from Shri Neminath Jain Polytechnic, Chandwad, Nashik district, have created a unique 'Onion Seed Sowing and Mixing Machine'. This battery-operated machine plants onion seeds while simultaneously mixing them. The machine distributes the seeds evenly into the ground and mixes them into the soil.
The uniqueness of this project lies in its ability to accomplish a task typically done by hand by farmers. The machine reduces physical labor while ensuring proper planting of onion bulbs. It took around two months to create the machine, costing approximately ₹35,000. The students have applied for its patent from the Indian government. Prakash Dhoka, Chairperson of the DIPEx reception committee, mentioned that the exhibition provides students with a platform in the era of science, technology, and artificial intelligence.
