Train Derailment at Lalru Railway Station Causes Delays for Chandigarh-Bound Trains

A train derailment incident at Lalru Railway Station resulted in delays for Chandigarh-bound trains, affecting various services. While no damage was reported, train operations were impacted causing delays for several trains.

A train derailment incident involving four petrol tank wagons occurred while entering the Lalru Railway Station on Thursday. Although no damage to railway property or staff was reported, several trains faced delays due to the derailment. The incident affected the up line and impacted Chandigarh-bound train operations. Normal traffic was restored within 45 minutes, and full restoration is expected soon, as per officials.

The Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express, starting from Ajmer, was delayed by over an hour, taking almost two hours to reach from Ambala Cantt to Chandigarh station. The afternoon Shatabdi Express from Chandigarh to New Delhi arrived in Delhi after a 30-minute delay.

As of the report filing time, the evening Shatabdi was running late by at least 51 minutes. The Chandigarh-Lucknow Express, scheduled to depart from Chandigarh station at 5:15 PM, had not departed by 8 PM. The Paschim Superfast Express was also delayed by over three hours, reaching Ambala at 2:40 PM, but arriving in Chandigarh around 6:45 PM.

The Ambala Cantt-Daulatpur Chowk passenger train was also held up for about three hours. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ambala Vinod Kumar Bhatia, along with the concerned branch officers, was present to oversee and expedite the restoration work.
