Special Investigation Team Progresses in Colonel Assault Case
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with probing Colonel Pushpinder Bath's assault case recorded statements of Patiala police personnel who delayed the FIR registration following the army officer's complaint. SIT head ADGP AS Rai mentioned that the probe team gathered statements of police personnel involved in the initial investigation of the case.
Rai expressed confidence in the SIT's progress, as it has collected documentary evidence related to the case. Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House in Patiala, Rai stated that the 12 accused cops will soon be called to provide their statements. However, Patiala SSP Nanak Singh did not appear before the SIT, citing his presence at the Punjab Human Rights Commission for another case.
The SIT is yet to record statements of the accused police personnel allegedly involved in thrashing Colonel Pushpinder Bath and his son over a parking dispute on the night of March 13 and 14. Recently, the SIT visited the dhaba where the incident occurred.
Rai further disclosed that the probe team received documentary evidence from the public following an appeal. Despite receiving phone calls from 25-30 individuals, no one provided concrete evidence, only sharing their thoughts on the incident.
