A human trafficking module was busted in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, leading to the rescue of four minor Rohingya girls. Acting on a tip-off, the police successfully dismantled the module operating in Ushkura. Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ushkura, was found to be involved in trafficking and exploiting minor girls from outside the Union Territory. A case was registered at the Baramulla police station and investigations began. In a swift operation, the police raided Bhat's residence and rescued three minor Rohingya girls from Myanmar. The raid was supervised by a magistrate and lady police officials. Bhat confessed to selling one girl to Mehraj Ahmad Tantray of Kanlibagh. A raid on Tantray's residence resulted in the rescue of another minor Rohingya girl. Both Bhat and Tantray have been arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend other individuals involved in the human trafficking racket.
