Ensuring Adequate Supply of DAP Fertilizer for Farmers in Ludhiana

The District Administration in Ludhiana, under Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, has taken steps to ensure the adequate supply of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer for farmers. As per Jorwal, 60% of the required DAP fertilizer has been received, which is crucial for the sowing of wheat, potatoes, and other crops in the district.

Jorwal disclosed that a total of 39,000 metric tonnes of DAP is needed for various crops covering a substantial agricultural land area. Currently, 25,400 metric tonnes of fertilizer have arrived in the district, including 23,400 metric tonnes of DAP and 2,000 metric tonnes of substitute fertilizer. Farmers were reassured by the DC that the remaining stock of fertilizer is expected to arrive soon, and there is no need to worry about DAP availability.

In addition to this, orders have been issued to fertilizer sellers to refrain from pressuring farmers into purchasing other chemicals along with DAP. Private dealers and cooperative societies have been instructed to prominently display their stock of fertilizers. They are also mandated to include the seller's mobile number on all bills issued to farmers.

The regulated price of DAP stands at ₹1,350 per 50 kg bag. Chief Agricultural Officer Parkash Singh has advised farmers to consider alternative fertilizers to DAP for sowing wheat and other crops, encouraging a diversified approach.

This proactive step taken by the Ludhiana District Administration ensures the smooth availability of essential fertilizers and promotes responsible practices in the agricultural sector.
